GULF OF OMAN — Three Iranian crude oil tankers successfully transited the established US naval perimeter on June 15, 2026, according to vessel tracking data reviewed by the Department of Maritime Logistics. Iranian officials have not commented on the convoy’s purpose or destination. The tankers are expected to arrive at an undisclosed location within the next 72 hours, where they will participate in what sources describe as an awards ceremony for unspecified petroleum-related achievements.
The Department of State has initiated a review of existing maritime enforcement protocols. A working group has been formed to examine whether current procedures adequately account for diplomatic convoys transporting liquid cargo. Preliminary findings are expected by Q3 2026.
